Are licensed Illinois Estheticians legally allowed to use essential oils on clients?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I am a licensed esthetician in illinois, looking at starting up my own holistic skincare space. As a licensed esthetician, am I allowed to use essential oils on my clients? I can’t find anything that specifies one way or another… only stuff that says we can only work on the top layer of skin for purposes of skincare and relaxation. I don’t see how using essential oils would be any different than using a product with essential oils as an ingredient… but I was wondering if anyone knows for sure. And where can I find proof that it is or is not allowed? Thanks!

What this I hear about $375 fines and mandatory court appearances in Illinois?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Apparently the illinois government has decided that those driving in excess of 45 m.p.h. in work zones without workers even present should be forced to appear in court and if convicted be fined at a minimum of $375. I understand Scott’s Law but has the state of Illinois explained why they are doing this?

The state of Illinois is broke, they have suspended all highway projects and they are looking for ways to increase their revenue, the fine is one way they are trying to do so and until it is challenged in a higher court they will continue to do so.~

Is Illinois a place where i can ride my motorcycle year round?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

I plan on getting a motorcycle so that i can ride it as my main mode of transportation. I live in NY right now, i plan on going to school in Chicago, and itd be nice to be able to ride my bike up here for the summer and such, and ride it during the winter in another state.

I’m not too good with geography so if Illinois is a state that i will be unable to ride in year round please gimme a good state that i can ride in.
Any tips would be great.

Illinois is a bit COOL in winter, speciffically, CHICAGO get’s all the lake effect snow. Just about like Buffalo.

If you really want a good state for college, look for states where you would usually go for SPRING BREAK. Padre Island off the Coast of Texas comes to mind. Bryan/College Station. University of Texas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi. Kingsville.

Southern California, LA, Hollywood, Santa Clara.

Florida Ft. Lauderdale. Miami, Miami Beach.

illinois does not exactly top the list does it?

Has Scott v Illinois been overruled by the U.S. Supreme Court?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Scott v. illinois was a case dealing with whether the state was obligated to provide legal counsel to a defendant who could not afford one. The court ruled that Mr. Scott could not be imprisoned if he was not provided counsel. But Mr. Scott was not imprisoned so the state was not required to provide council. The case has never been overturned by the US Supreme Court.

I believe that you are actually asking about Dred Scott v. Sandford in which a slave in Illinois and from time to time, Missouri sued his master to be declared a citizen. He was not granted citizenship and the court ruled that a slave could never be given citizenship because of their status. The passage of the Fourteenth Amendment voided the Dred Scott decision in fact. The Court never overturned the case, per se, but they have over the years referred to it as having been rendered mute by the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment.
