If I ordered Direct tv and I live in Illinois would I be able to watch local channels in Florida?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I live in illinois but like to watch the news and local channels in Florida where I used to live. If I switch to Direct TV will I be able to get access to those channels? If not is there a way I could pay extra a month to get them?

Sorry, you can’t get local Florida channels in Illinois, no matter what you pay.

Who does Barack Obama think he is foolin by claiming no lobbyist money?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Last August The Boston Globe, in a piece by Scott Helman, took a hard look at Obama’s contributions, noting that “behind Obama’s campaign rhetoric about taking on special interests lies a more complicated truth.” That truth revealed that as a state legislator in illinois, a U.S. senator, and as a presidential aspirant, Obama had collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists and PACs. Helman quoted an Obama campaign spokeswoman saying that after he experienced firsthand the influence of Washington lobbyists, he was taking a different approach to fundraising than he had in the past, and that “his leadership position on this issue is an evolving process.” If Obama’s leadership on campaign financing is indeed evolving, more news outlets should be following the evolution.

He’s not really fooling anyone, he’s simply relying on the liberal media (his ally) to give him the free passes that they are. Thus the media is failing in their responsibility to keep people informed, regardless of who the truth hurts.

How mucy should I put aside to pay income tax in Illinois?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Hi, I am a Illinois resident and currently doing an internship in Florida.
I will be here only for 13 weeks and my expected income from this internship is $9880. I also have other sources of income from illinois, so my expected total income for this year will be around 45~50K.
I heard that when I file an income tax report in Illinois, I will have to pay state income tax to Illinois for the Florida income portion, since Florida does not collect income tax.

Out of the income of $9880, how much should I put aside?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Without considering any exemptions, the Illinois rate is 3%.

Hunting; Illinois; Question regarding turkey hunting?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I moved to Iowa from Oregon in late 2008. I do know where to start asking questions (Illinois DNR), and I have their phone number[s]. But, heck, I thought, someone on Yahoo! answers will probably be able to guide me in the right direction. I have several weapons, a couple of .22 rifles, a 12-guage shotgun, and a Winchester model 1917 30.06 that I’d prefer not to use since it’s from WWI and is a relic, and worth some money and I don’t want to F it up by accidently jamming it or whatever. Plus, I don’t see the need to put that kind of firepower into a turkey. I haven’t been turkey hunting in Illinois since I was a young’n and I don’t remember anything because we went with my uncle and he took care of all the legal stuff. I don’t want to take my bird in Iowa (where I live) because the state requires the prerequisite of a hunter safety course, whilst illinois doesn’t (over a certain age, and I’m 30). So, I’m willing to pay the extra $ for the tag or hunting permit or whatever is required unless I do the math VS. Iowa and my home state turns out to be cheaper. Now. I live in Scott County Iowa and I’d like to take my bird in Rock Island or Mercer county in Illinois. Does anyone have ANY advice, detailed or just a point-in-the-right-direction for how and what I do next. I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve accompanied my friend (who always lives out west and shoots anything he wants, back to his home state of PA for several poaching trips. I’ve made the promise to myself, the Commonwealth of PA, as well as all the other states, and mother nature to never poach again. It is not good for the environment and the monies are not collected for the preservation and restoration of our beloved natural areas. So, where do I go from here? -john in Iowa with no Thanksgiving turkey and no answers. Hmm. I don’t think Yahoo answers allows me to give out my real email or I’d do it. Heck I’d even give my phone number (maybe too trusting, I don’t know)… Some help? All appreciated!
Oh, I can’t use a compound bow to hunt because of I’m dis-abled because of a motorcycle accident (of course, like most, it was not my fault). I don’t have it on paper that I can’t draw a bow, but if it came down to it, I could get it done….. Just incase anyone wondered why I insisted on using a firearm… thx

Killing animals = bad… taking their photos = good

Why doesn’t the news emphasize the flooding and destruction in Illinois & Iowa was caused by breached levees?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Like with Katrina (and that Bush is doing nothing as usual)? They report it in a way to make you think that these disasters were caused by such severe weather to make you think that must be scary global warming–yet those waters wouldn’t never have flooded those neighborhoods if it were for recent epidemic of conveniently weak levees! More land confiscation and did you know that they’re already raising the prices of corn, wheat, soybeans, and other crops "in anticiptation" of the affects of the disaster? Sounds like what the oil companies did to gas prices after Katrina!

Should other existing levees be reinforced so that they last instead of coincidentally falling apart now? And should Americans start guarding the levees to make sure nothing happens to them?
Edward: They’ve never done that before. And we could take the money out of the "War on Terror" and bailing out companies like Bear Stearns! Also "terrorists" would likely target our levees to further ruin our economy and kill innocent Americans so I think they should be guarded.
No, many were "breached" or "broken" according to the news reports. But on TV all you see is people sand bagging so other levees don’t overflow.
The levees are federal projects–who else can be blamed? And isn’t FEMA a federal, too?

The areas that were flooded were places that were built in a flood plain. The problem isn’t weak levees…its TOO MANY levees. Too much water and everyone trying to hold it back. There need to be more natural flood plains so the excess water has somewhere to go. And yes, the weather here in Iowa has been EXTREME this spring, MUCH, MUCH more rain, tornadoes, and severe weather than what is normal for us, similarly we had excessive ice storms last fall/early winter, and a whole lot more snow during the winter and early spring than normal. I have lived here for all of my nearly 40 years and have never seen anything like it. The reason crop prices are going up is the simple law of supply and demand. There are definitely less crops due to the disaster, that is an absolute given. There are many, many fields still under water here. Of course that affects prices. If there is no new supply coming in, then what is left of the old supply is going to be more expensive.

Will the outrage start today?

House scales back proposed Wall Street rules
"nearly half the Democrats teamed up with Republicans late Thursday to loosen restrictions on derivatives and reject tougher regulations…

"The legislation still imposes restrictions on derivatives, aiming to prevent manipulation in and bring transparency to a $600 trillion global market. An amendment by New York Democrat Scott Murphy, adopted 304-124 Thursday night, exempted businesses that trade in derivatives, not as financial speculators, but to hedge against market fluctuations such as currency rates or gasoline prices. The amendment also provided an exception for businesses that are not considered too big to be a risk to the financial system.

"A Democratic effort to make more companies subject to derivatives regulation failed 279-150.

"On Wednesday, pro-business Democrats succeeded in making it harder for states to enforce their own consumer protection rules on national banks. Under a compromise struck with Democratic leaders and Treasury officials, states would not be able to pre-empt federal consumer laws if the state law "materially" interferes with the business of banks.

Burris Becomes a Key Player on Health Care
Shunned illinois Senator Makes Waves for Saying He Won’t Vote for Bill Without Public Option
"It works this way: Burris stays mum about any bitterness he may feel about his reception, and he gets Obama’s Senate seat for two years. Democrats seat him, don’t speak of him, and get his loyal vote at a time when all 58 Democrats and two independents must vote together to prevent Republican filibusters. "

There is still an "ongoing" Senate ethics investigation of Burris. The only reason Burris is still in the Senate is that the head of the Senate ethics committee is Barbie Boxer (D CA), who is intenionally postponing the investigation purely for partisan political reasons.
And this right after the war President Obama did a "grab and run" for his NPP, then jetted back stateside, then shortly he will jet back to Copenhagen to discuss ways to force everybody else to cut back their emissions.

Has the "dumbing down" of America finally achieved its goal?

Start? It doesn’t stop.

Are Democrats purposely trying to lose the Illinois Governorship?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Scott Lee Cohen, the winner of the Democratic primary for Illinois lieutenant governor, says he will not step down despite a past checkered with a number of unsavory issues.

His estranged wife accused him of steroid use and angry outbursts and sought an order of protection. His girlfriend who later pleaded guilty to prostitution claimed he held a knife to her throat. But Cohen says those mistakes are all in the past.

Our current governor IS the Lt. governor.
Our Previous Governor is Rod Blago, who has been indicted.
Before Blago, that governor is currently in prison.

Politics in illinois is a unique brand but I think you already know that by now
