Is it possible to teach in Illinois without being certified if I have a Bachelors degree?

I’ve heard that some states that have teacher shortages allow you to teach as long as you have a bachelors degree in anything. Does illinois have any programs like this? Also, what other states do?

I don’t believe you can teach in IL without a certificate. It used to be that you had to have a teaching degree to even sub in the state but they couldn’t find enough subs so that law went to the wayside. You can however teach private school without a certificate. I would check out www.isbe.net for more information.

Obama escaped all of the dirt of Illinois politics for now but he still has the dirt on is shoes. How long will it take for the main stream media to realize the White House carpets are all tracked up with mud?

Probably never. The left wing liberal bias media is in the tank for Obama. Can you imagine if a Republican had chosen some tax cheats for cabinet positions? Since he’s a Democrat, it was just a simple mistake. If they would have been Republicans, it would just prove that all Republicans are crooks. Blagovitch they will have to keep quiet…..he knows way too much in illinois politics. And you can’t find anything worse no matter how hard you try. That Chicago political machine is the reason Cook County is called Crook County.

Illinois unemployment benefits and how they relate to a new small business owner?

I am currently unemployed and collecting illinois unemployment benefits. If I take a new job as a non-employee contractor for a new company then I am technically self employed, correct? If so, would I be eligible to continue collecting unemployment benefits while I am in the start up period of that career and not making any income?

No, you can not, to do so would be to commit fraud. You will be employed, self employed is still employed. You are no longer seeking employment.

Do I have to pay Illinois state tax if I am a Texas resident?

I work from home in Texas for an Illinois-based company. I am employed and my company is withholding Illinois tax on my W2. I do all my work in Texas and never physically work within illinois. Texas does not have any state income tax.

I can’t find any definitive information or publications that seems to be helpful.

Since you do not live or work in IL, you do not pay IL tax. Your employer should NOT be withholding IL State income tax!

Where your employer is located is irrelevant. What matters is where YOU live and where YOU work.

Illinois is the most nuclear state in the US. There are about 13 nuclear power plants in the state of Illinois. If more than one blow up like Chernobyl, Chicago and the whole state will panic. I think that is Illinois’ dark side.

Directions state that : If you are changing your illinois return due to a change to your federal return, do not file this form until you receive notification that the IRS has accepted the changes.
I am amending my 2003 taxes and i am told i have to do this within three years ?

Hello, timbo! The IL-1040-X instructions (linked below) state that the three-year limit applies when there is a state-only change that results in a refund. If you realize that you owe more tax on a prior year return, you should "pay the tax, penalty, and interest as soon as you realize that it is owed."

However, since it sounds like you are also amending your federal return, the instructions give you two options regarding the state return:
1) if the federal change INCREASES your Illinois tax, you must file IL-1040-X and pay within 120 days of receiving the IRS confirmation of your federal change
2) if the federal change DECREASES your Illinois tax, "you must file IL-1040-X "… within two years plus 120 days of federal finalization."

It sounds to me like the "two years plus 120 days" trumps the other 3 year deadline. But to be safe, I would highly recommend calling the IL Dept of Revenue at 800-732-8866; explain your situation and ask them how the limits apply. Good luck!

Charles Brady has six counts of unlicensed practice of law in Miami and I want to know if he was tried in illinois, what would be the penalties.
