Is there an Illinois law that controls the distance between changes in speed limits?
I believe I have heard that there is an illinois law that set a distance between changes in speed limits and how much the speed limit can change. I was driving in an area last night where the speed limit went very quickly from 55 down to 45 down to 35 down to 30. This all happened in less than a mile. Can this be done?
Just a guess but apparently there is no such law or you wouldn’t see that because I’m sure people in charge of posting speed limit signs are up on that stuff (highway dep’t)

yes there is a law in florida as such and would assume that other states have it. what happens is before the actual law went into effect you have these places where signs have never been replaced and as people get tickets and go to court its usually how things change. when they pass a law sometimes it takes a while for it to become a fabric of sorts when there are so many speed zones, town limits etc. It takes time to get them all replaced.
