What is the difference between Illinois State University and University of Illinois?
I wonder what’s the difference between Illinois State University and University of Illinois… Is Illinois State University is a public school and other one is private??
And which one is better university??
Thank you for reading this!
Both are public schools.
Illinois State is the older of the two, founded in the 1840’s. It was the Illinois State Normal College… basically a teacher’s school and basic school to supply professionals to the state of Illinois. Solid regional university.
University of illinois is a land-grant institution. Founded in 1867, this is your flagship public university, and a top tier national university (Urbana Campus).
Better University… that would be Illinois, but it depends on what you are studying. For most majors, it will be Illinois, but there may be a program over at Illinois State that would be a better fit for someone.
