It was the Illinois State Normal College... basically a teacher's school and basic school to supply professionals to the state of Illinois. Solid regional university. University of Illinois is a land-grant institution. Founded in 1867, this is your flagship public university, and a top tier national university (Urbana Campus). Better University... that would be Illinois, but it depends on what you are studying.
