What do you think of Obama’s comments on White Sox and Cub Fans?

Obama, a Southsider, was asked by ESPN’s Stuart Scott what would happen if both the Cubs and the White Sox made it to the World Series.

"I would be going,” Obama said.

"Who would you root for?” Scott asked.

"Oh, that’s easy,” Obama replied. "White Sox.

"I’m not one of these fair weather fans,” the junior senator from illinois and presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party explained. "You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer, beautiful people up there. People aren’t watching the game. It’s not serious. White Sox, that’s baseball. Southside."

I don’t care if he likes the Sox over my Cubs but, was a little disappointed that he had to spout off uneducated Cubs bashing that most Sox fans do. Sox fan is jealous of the following / attention the Cubs get & this is their only response. Cubs fan may enjoy Old Style but they know more about their team & farms than most fans.

his comments won’t sway my voting

If you were wearing a cubs hat and asked that then he would say cubs all the way. the man is a joke in politics. look at his voting record in the senate. it says present at best. he doesn’t vote unless the rest of the dems tell him to. just check his senate website.

Obama supports whichever team gets him the most votes. At the DNC this week, he supports the Rockies. Next week, it’ll be the Twins. Then the Cardinals.

Anybody who is upset needs to get a life and a brain. Anybody who would change their vote based upon this ought to have their Voters Registration Card taken away and never be allowed to vote again.

Well, this won’t change my standards on politics, even though I do want him to win. I am super glad about those comments! Better the President be a Sox fan than Cubs fan, if he is elected! And what if the Sox visited the White House when he was President, like they do after they win the title. If that happens, that would be cool!

Seeing as he’s ignorant on economics, international relations, issues of race, how to choose a non-lying-plagiarizing-racist VP candidate, I don’t expect him to be correct on this either.

Sorry, I’m still laughing at what Spam said.

I don’t like Obama AT ALL. But I have to admit that he’s right. I’ve been to Wrigley, and I didn’t hear the fans screaming or yelling. It didn’t even look like they were watching the game. They were all on their cell phones or talking to the person next to them, or just walking around.

When I go to games I like to hear yelling and screaming, seeing signs from fans, the whole sha-bang.

    EDIT::

Hey CubsBearsBulls, I’ve BEEN to Wrigley and I was just stating what I saw. I never brought politics into baseball. So… *cough, read closer, cough*

i hate barack obama and this right here just puts more fuel to that. he’s a god damn foreigner that should try to go run some other country and not try to ruin ours. Obama is just some nobody that nobody even knew about until this year when he started to run for president. Also, i’m getting sick and tired of people saying cub fans don’t watch the game when they are there. That’s the dumbest piece of shit i’ve ever heard, why the hell would people spend all that god-forsaken money if they weren’t gonna watch a baseball game?

LMAO at Spam’s comment. So true.

As for Obama, he didn’t have my vote to begin with, but his comments on the Cubs only solidified my vote. I think we’ll have a lot more Sox fans voting for Obama because of these comments rather then Cubs fans voting against him for these comments. Cubs fans would never bring politics into baseball, they’re smarter then that (only the ignorant and clueless think Cubs fans are uneducated and don’t actually watch the games *cough erica cough*). White Sox fans however are the group more uneducated then probably any other team in baseball and they probably would bring politics into sports (kind of like how Bud Selig did as well). I don’t think the question people should be asking here is "How many Cubs fans aren’t voting Obama because of these comments?" it should be How many White Sox fans will be voting for Obama because of these comments?
